Closing positions of FDI by the country of the ultimate investor
There is an increasing demand from domestic and international users for a breakdown of FDI stock by ultimate investor. This supplementary statistical breakdown is compiled by an increasing number of countries. The breakdown is published in their own websites, and also in the Eurostat and OECD website. The ultimate investor is the majority investor at the top of the ownership chain of an enterprisegroup, directly or indirectly holding more than 50 percent of the voting rights in the company, and which is not controlled by any other investor (no other owner with more than 50 percent of the voting rights). The breakdown by ultimate investor allocates the value of FDI stocks to the country of the ultimate investor, leaving the value of the stock of the national economy FDI unchanged.
